Thomas Cook: The holiday provider has cancelled flights to Cape Verde

Thomas Cook has cancelled all flights to Cape Verde, citing low demand as the reason.

Flights that will no longer go ahead starting from April 27th, according to the airline.

They tweeted one passenger who asked what flights were affected: “We are no longer flying to Cape Verde for Summer 2018.

“This affects flights and holidays from May-November.”

Those who booked package holidays have been offered a £30 discount for a new holiday booking

Many Britons who had already booked their holidays to the popular holiday destination found out that their flights had been cancelled.

Whilst they were offered full refunds, affected passengers have taken to social media citing a lack of explanation.

They also complain that no compensation has been offered for people who just booked flights.

Those who booked package holidays have been offered a £30 discount for a new holiday booking or a full refund, according to the airline.

One Twitter user wrote: “What better way to start a Monday morning than Thomas Cook cancelling your all inclusive holiday to Cape Verde!”

Others were shocked that they were offered nothing as an apology from the airline.

Another remarked: “Just spoke to customer services at Thomas Cook airlines regarding my cancelled flight to Sal Cape Verde to check on when all my money will be refunded and was informed that there is no chance of getting any compensation so it will be Tui from now on.”

Another found the flights on Black Friday, complaining that “now all the bargains have just gone”.

Thomas Cook: The airline cited low demand as their reason for cancelling the flight route

A Thomas Cook spokesperson told Express.co.uk: “We’ve stopped our Cape Verde flight for this summer due to low demand, and we’re very sorry for the inconvenience to our customers who have already booked.

“We are contacting everyone who has booked to Cape Verde between May and October to offer another of our great destinations. Our holidays to Cape Verde restart in November as scheduled.”

Cape Verde has recently been added to the map for British travellers thanks to it being featured in the TV show Celebs Go Dating.
